Glory Community Development & Environmental Conservation (GCDEC)
A non-profit organization that is dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children and fostering sustainable development in communities across Kenya.
With a focus on education, environmental conservation, and holistic community empowerment, GCDEC serves as a beacon of hope for those facing adversity.
Our journey began in 1996 when Irene Wanjiku, driven by compassion and faith, opened her home to children who had been displaced by poverty, violence, and neglect.
What started as a small initiative to provide shelter and care soon grew into Glory Children Center, a sanctuary for vulnerable children in Kajiado, Nyeri, and Kiambu counties.

About Us
Our Commitment
At the heart of GCDEC is a commitment to empowering communities and creating lasting, sustainable change. Our programs focus not only on meeting immediate needs but also on equipping individuals and families with the tools, skills, and knowledge to build brighter futures.
We aim to create long-term, impactful change by offering practical solutions that lead to self-sufficiency and improved quality of life.
Our Impact
Since its founding, GCDEC has transformed the lives of over 1,000 children through our comprehensive support system. Beyond providing basic needs, we focus on long-term development by educating, empowering, and equipping children and communities with the skills and resources they need to thrive. Our environmental projects, educational programs, and spiritual outreach continue to make a significant difference across the regions we serve.
